OCT 14MAMMOTH IS BACK

Team Big Bear and Blue Wolf Events have just announced the date for 2004 National Championship. The original date for the National Championship race was set for Deer Valley in Utah. However, it will now take place at Mammoth Lakes. Only American citizens are allowed to participate in the race that will determine our number one racers. This event will be fully recognized by the UCI and award American riders the highest UCI points. This will increase the World Cup and World Championship qualifying positions and start positions, as well as make it easier for our riders to qualify for the Olympic Games.
The 2003 NCS series, which included five races, had no purse money or rock bottom UCI status. Moreover, most points were not available to foreign riders.

AMERICA CUPSERIES
We won’t call the American MTB Series the National Championship Series (NCS), because that is not what it really is. Seven races have been added to the American MTB series, and an eighth could be added. All nationalities will be able to participate in America’s new continental mountain bike series. A welcome addition is the return to dual slalom. It is planned to alternate between mountain cross and dual-slalom racing throughout the series. This was done to avoid alienating amateur riders not ready for close-contact mountain cross action.
As series sponsors, Shimano and Gatorade are the only two that have joined so far. Blue Wolf Events and Team Big Bear are currently in negotiations with Outdoor Life Network to expand their television coverage and add series sponsors. They also have a substantial pro purse.
